Today is my last day and overall work has been pretty worth while experience for me and maybe even come back some other time.

This morning I installed Linux Ubuntu which is a open source software with many other apps inside. When installing I had to partition the drive on the laptop so that windows could be kept separate.

The effects are pretty kool on Ubuntu the windows act jelly like when dragging them around.

Also you can spin the whole desktop screen as if it were a cube which I personally think is a lot better than the Vista animations.

After that I uploaded a few pictures from the whole week well 4 pictures anyway that’s it really but I’m getting the train back at about 5:00.

My task was to create a web site for youth football team using word press and FileZilla to upload a working web blog to the Internet with a suitable web address.

Getting started

First I downloaded the files from the wordpress web site then I went to the FileZilla site to get the link to download the software to upload the site.

Install

Just install FileZilla and extract WordPress.

Working FileZilla

Open FileZilla and click on the “open site manager” icon, this will bring a window asking for a site manager or for you to create a manager with the correct details of your server host.

Now open the files you extracted from wordpress, and drag them in to the remote site section BUT before you drag them there make sure the destination is were you want it to be.

The FileZilla should now automatically upload these files to the net on your server.

Finishing

Finish by going onto the WordPress web site and creating the web address. Once that is done you can play with the settings of your site.

This all may make no sense a tall but it is my first attempt at filezilla an wordpress.

One hardware tool which was very useful with the 4 desktops was a KVM switch which allows you to use 4 computers on one monitor, keyboard and mouse.

There’s a switch to change between computers so work is more productive instead of maybe having four monitors or even working at each desktop in turn.

Over all I’ve learnt a few things over the way which I would of never of even noticed before hand.

I want a Wacom Intuos its a Graphic Tablet which lets you draw naturally on the computer, its the best A4 one I can find on the net I was thinking of getting a A5 but I don’t no which will be more worth buying because the wacom A4 costs £340!!! And the smaller A5 cost £215 so Im kinda stuck, should I pay more than £100 punds jus for abit more room?

I have looked at others around an about like the Bamboo which looks very stylish in the shinny black material only costing a nice £70 but this product is more for writing small notes an other things like annotation, I wana do concept art things.

Currently I own a old school gangstar 1200 trust tablet which I got on my 14th Birthday which is slowly wearing away, the spare nibs for pen I got I lost very early on

an now the nib is disappearing but the tablet its self is doing very good, haven’t spilled any drinks on it yet just a few scratches.

So SOOOOON I should be posting a blog about my new WACOM TABLET but first I need to start working an saving money an stop going to subway, those sub of the days eat away very slowly at my money.

 This afternoon we went to build up some computers for some Architect work place, 5 desktops an 2 laptops. The work was pretty hard even though I see my self as a slightly confident person on the PC, but things just like setting it up with different partitions but with 3 or more partitions with some other software because windows is not able for some reason and also other things like installing other software a sorting files stuff like that you need to be careful not to make any mistakes!!!

This morning I begun my first day of my work experience at Terinea in Edinburgh.
